March 12, 2020

COVID-19, a.k.a. Novel Coronavirus, has become an increasingly severe problem in parts of the US. With confirmed cases in Oregon, it’s important that we remain vigilant in an attempt to minimize the spread and effect of the disease and protect our members.

As March 12, 2020, the Junior League of Portland is taking the following actions:

  • Suspending all in-person meetings, activities, and events with10 people or more, including recruitment events and the 2020 Rose Summit, through May 9
  • Suspending all direct service activities through May 9
  • Encouraging members to leverage technology to conduct virtual committee meetings and to prioritize telecom and electronic communication over in-person meetings

We understand that the ever changing situation is unsettling; however, please keep in mind that the absolute best thing that we can do is keep ourselves healthy and well. We can do this by increasing proper hand washing and personal hygiene, staying home and resting if we or any of our family members are unwell or experience symptoms of COVID-19, practicing social distancing, and staying up-to-date with and closely following directives made by the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Furthermore, on March 23, 2020 Oregon Governor Kate Brown issued Executive Order 20-12 which impacts local businesses, parks, and continues to encourage social distancing.
