Q: What is JLP CAREs all about?

A: The Junior League of Portland’s 8th annual JLP CAREs (Community Action & Revitalization Event) Day is Saturday, October 15, 2016. As our signature fundraiser, JLP CAREs is a unique event that combines fund development and community service. JLP members are invited to participate in half-day projects that enhance the services and facilities of 10 essential Portland community organizations – like, Peninsula Children’s Learning Center, The Children’s Book Bank, Albertina Kerr, and Dress For Success. CAREs 2016 projects will positively impact the lives of over 7,500 children and their families in the Portland area. You can help us make a HUGE difference in the lives of thousands in a single day! Following the morning Volunteer-a-thon, scheduled from 9am-1pm, the Junior League of Portland will be hosting the third annual Harvest Soirée and Silent Auction at the NW Falcon Building building. It’ll be an evening of fun with the Membership at-large, the community, friends and family.

Q: What kind of projects happen on JLP CAREs Day?

A: On JLP CAREs Day 2015, we activated over 120 League volunteers, who completed 450 hours of service helping over 7,500 families and kids. A tremendous achievement! This year, participating community partners include:

Q: How can I get involved?

A: If you’re a League member, sign up for a service project! Or, show that your support the Volunteer-a-thon initiative by considering a monetary gift in support of  the League’s mission of voluntarism, training and education! Gather your friends, and purchase tickets to the Harvest Soiree & Auction, featuring music, photography, hosted bites and beverages, and more!

On JLP CAREs Day 2015, we logged more than 750 volunteer hours in the community, and raised more than $60,000! This year help us increase our goal to $80,000 — made possible through volunteering, Soiree attendance and sponsorship support. $25,000 of our fundraising goal will be generated directly by our league members. Even if you can’t join us on JLP CAREs Day, you can still help support the League by donating to and fundraising for the event! Your donation dollars will be put to work and benefit the many worthy groups served throughout the entire year!
