6th Annual Delicates Drive

Why have a Delicates Drive?

When survivors of commercially and sexually exploited children and adults are rescued, they need to surrender their undergarments as evidence and they are left with nothing. The local organizations who provide immediate and long term care do not have the resources to supply survivors with these essential items. Gift cards to Target, Fred Meyers, etc. allow survivors to select their own delicates giving them a sense of power they haven’t had in possibly years. Finally, gift cards to fast food restaurants like McDonald’s, Burger King, Taco Bell, Subway, et al., allow police officers and other first responders (i.e. SARC advocates) to create rapport and relationship with girls still in the life who were taught by their traffickers to not trust anyone but them.

What organizations benefit from the Drive?

This year, the local organizations who will receive donations from this drive, based on their needs are: Janus YouthSARC, A Village for One, Rose Haven, & Rahab’s Sisters.

How can I help?

You can help us make an impact in several ways:

  1. You can host a hamper at your place of business, church, community center, etc. by emailing: stophumantrafficking@jlpdx.org
  2. Find a hamper location near you and drop off your donation of undergarments or toiletries.
  3. Place an order from our Target registry: tgt.gifts/delicatesdrive2018. Make sure you select “janna’s registry” under section 2, shipping address

What has been the past impact of this Drive?

Over the past five years, the Delicates Drive collected over 5,000 bras & underwear and over $2,200 worth of gift cards! We are excited to keep building on this in the future.

Last Year

The 5th annual Delicates Drive ended on Feb. 11, 2017. The league had donation sites in about 15 locations around the Portland, OR metro area and collected over 2,015 undergarments and toiletries as well as more than $400 in retail and restaurant gift cards! Please check back for more updates later in the year regarding the 2018 drive. A hearty thank you goes out to all who helped with the drive. Please know that you have made a huge difference in a survivor’s life! Especially helpful were our friends in the community who allowed hampers on site. A special thanks to Barre3 in the Pearl for hosting a special donation based class, with all donations benefiting the drive.

Underneath it all we are all the same.
